The wire rope core plays an important role in the support and stability of the wire rope. There are three main types of wire rope core: fiber core (FC), independent wire core (IWRC), and stranded core (WSC).
Fiber Core is made from natural or synthetic polypropylene fibers. The fiber core is highly flexible. This can be useful in some applications, however, they are more susceptible to crushing. and is not recommended for use in high-heat environments. which performance may decrease.
The steel core can either be independent wire rope core (IWRC) or single stranded. The steel core provides excellent support and durability. This makes them suitable for applications where the fiber core may not be strong enough. In particular, IWRC is often used at higher loads and temperatures. as it can withstand temperatures above 180°F
Selection of the proper wire rope core is essential to ensure optimum performance and safety in various operating conditions. Consider the specific requirements of your application to determine the most suitable core type for your wire rope.
